Ask yourself these questions, and then answer them for yourself:

In the US, and around the world, where are US military bases? Which branches of the military are at these bases? 

How many soldiers are at these bases? Are there any towns or cities near these bases? What kind of housing do soldiers live in?

Besides the big military bases, where else are US soldiers based? What is it like to live there? Who can I ask about this?

How are US soldiers treated by non-military people who live near these bases? Is the life of a soldier a healthy life where I can grow and mature into a happy, healthy person?
